The Best Vintage Buys
Today I share a curated edit of my top "second-hand" buys, saving you the stress of flea market fiascos and tiresome digging....
Ciao! I am beyond excited for today’s post. I am sharing with you all the little golden nuggets of vintage gems, from Kenzo mongolian jackets to cashmere Jil Sander knitwear. It can be a minefield trying to sort through the endless pages of vintage and pre-loved items. Similarly, its also exhausting rummaging through the dusty rails of charity shops or digging around in the reduced piles at Portobello Road Market. Trust me, I’ve been there…
Buying pre-loved/vintage/second-hand, whatever you want to call it, is a fabulous way to save money, the planet and your wallet. I think that in the recent years, buying pre-loved has become almost “trendy” and unfortunately, some sellers have taken advantage of naive shoppers, hiking up prices to inaccurately represent their “rare” designer vintage find. Equally, Depop and Vinted have become buyer’s go-to shopping platforms for bagging up a bargain. Even Ebay, which once had the reputation of a second-hand platform where dusty camera parts were flogged for pennies and your grandma’s “collectable” ornament were flaunted, has now become the new “it” destination for all things vintage and designer. Ebay now have a collaboration with Vogue, appealing to the trendy gen-z and millennial shoppers who desperately want that Celine (Phoebe Philo era) bag. Whilst I agree with buying vintage and finding an item which I have been searching for new, at a lower price (a la second hand), there is a part of me which reserves a bit of scepticism for these items. Questions about authenticity and endless disputes surrounding quality, fit and seller honesty continue to prevail. However, shopping second hand can be liberating and lead to the discovery of pieces which you definitely will not find on the high-street or in a department store.

Et Voila!! I could literally go on forever about all the vintage/ pre-loved items I have spotted over the past weeks and months but the list would be endless. Some of my favourite online places to shop are: Reluxe, Hardly Ever Worn It (HEWI), Sign of the Times, Vestiaire, The Real Real, Etsy, Ebay, Vinted and Depop.
I have found so much joy in buying pre-loved and some of my all time favourite pieces in my wardrobe are in fact second hand. Personally, I am not bothered if its had a couple of wears or signs of a previous life lived. I think thats the beauty of it. You get to bring new life into items and reimagine a future life for them. Its like passing on the baton (with the baton being the item of clothing). One person’s trash is another’s treasure…
Until next time style queens!!
