Welcome back to part 2 of the pieces I will be (or hope to buy) this Autumn. Moving onto accessories, I begin by discussing shoes. Looking to the runway for inspiration, designers such as Bally and Theory embrace a more refined style. Whilst others like Burberry have gone all out with the thigh-high boot.
As for bags, the days of the micro-bag are long behind us and its all about embracing our inner Mary Poppin’s. The bigger the better! Bottega leads the way with its incredible array of gigantic totes- also available to wear under the arm as a clutch. Jil Sander and Stella McCartney also debuted their take on the giant tote.
So, without further ado, welcome to part two!
3. Shoes
Onto section number 4: shoes. For most people, Autumn means the return of the boot, which I totally understand. I myself, have never been a boot-kinda person. I much prefer a sneaker, loafer or even ballet flat (which living in London is often hard to wear because of the wet weather). Whilst I don't often opt for a boot, I will be discussing a style which is making a major comeback: the moto-cross, biker boot. It's grunge appeal has surprisingly taken off on Instagram and TikTok.
Talking of biker boots, these ones from Arket are currently in the sale. These ones from Reformation are MEGA and come in both a shorter and longer length so take your pick! Acne Studios have embraced a longer style with silver hardware and my personal favourite, Paris Texas have a pair as do Celine if your budget stretches. Finally, Russel and Bromley have a pair in brown which has elevated hardware which could be cool paired with a school girl skirt of straight-leg jean.
Sneaker trends come and go. Personally, I love Golden Goose. I recently found a pair of pink velvet ones on Ebay for a bargain of £50! We all love the Adidas Sambas or their collaboration with Wales Bonner (impossible to get hold of). The Adidas Gazelle's are also a great option. I love these gold sneakers from Onitsuka or the silver version.
As for other styles, I have lived in my velvet mary jane's and slippers from Vibi Venezia. They're so easy to throw on and go with pretty much anything. However, they are more of a summer shoe so turn to brands like Le Monde Beryl for a pair like these, or these, or even these. The Row do a fabulous, quiet luxury pair, as do Jacquemus (also available in a butter yellow). For an evening look, I will never grow bored of these Khaite diamante mesh ballet flats. The mesh trend has proven to be like Marmite, you either love it or hate it. I love it and aside from the iconic Khaite model, other brands like Dear Frances and a high-street version, Arket (sadly sold out but hopefully back in stock ASAP). Lastly, this Prada pair are mega and if anyone wants to gift me these I am a size UK5...
5. Bags
If you follow me on Instagram (@isabellaadaws) you will know that I became obsessed with the Jil Sander Goji bag (courtesy of Lizzy Bennett). I searched high and low to find one that didn't eat up the entirity of my student loan. In case you didn't know, the bag comes at a small price tag of between £1500 and £2000. The gold version is amazing and special for an evening look. Equally, the white version (available for a steal here) is elegant and timeless. After searching high and low, I managed to locate a BRAND NEW mini black one with the iconic bamboo handle for a small bargain of £275. I will be wearing this non-stop for sure.
I've always been a sucker for The Row's brown suede tote, which Khaite also do a similar version of. I love the slouchiness of the bag, and it looks like it fits the entire contents of Mary Poppin's bag- ideal for hoarders like myself. I sadly found out that Loewe are discontinuing their Puzzle bag and replacing it with another model which I have to say, I am not a fan of. However, Toteme have a lovely butter soft slouchy mini-er bag. Because this is an autumn edit, it would be rude to not feature something shearling: like this bag here. For a funky, more affordable bag, STAUD's Tommy will always have a place in my heart.
That wraps up my mammoth Autumn wishlist and all of the pieces I am lusting over. If only my wardrobe could accommodate all of these pieces (and my wallet!!).
Publishing this has seriously got me in the mood for Autumn and start of fashion month, beginning with New York this week. This fashion month is perhaps the most highly anticipated one, with returns to the runway from Ralph Lauren (his last show was 2019), a makeover from Victoria’s Secret and the OG of quiet luxury, Phoebe Philo’s very own debut solo collection. Which, by the way, if you can get your hands on please send some pieces my way!!!
As always- please share and subscribe as it means so much (without sounding soppy!). I really want to share my passion for writing and fashion with those who are as mad about it as me!
